The Wildflowers are Blooming!
And are they ever gorgeous!
David and I had a fun day ,yesterday. We drove up through the Antelope Valley up to the State Park there.
The Hills are in Glorious bloom! The yellow mustard flowers, the tiny purple lupin, and orange Poppies are a
riot of vivid color! And it is just getting started! In a couple of weeks That entire Valley will be fully
covered in orange poppies.
This was my first time to actually go through Antelope Valley. I've enjoyed the sights mostly from the
freeway along 1-5. This week we're going over to Kernville and maybe Maricopa. Wildflower season is quite
short so there are a lot of places to see. I want to go to Mojave and see the Desert in full bloom as well.
So many flowers, so little time.

Can you believe the color of
this sky???? These pictures are
Straight from the Camera.
Well except for the copyright
logo... I do use a circular
polarizer when shooting
outside, which of course helps
the sky maintain it's
brilliant indigo color.
Some of these pictures will
kind of look the same. They
are! Just from a different
angle or position. I took a
couple hundred and I did not
delete a single one. That is
rare for me. Usually I shoot a
few hundred and delete about
half of them.
I loved this one so much!
The deep blue sky, the
bright Yellow flowers, the
rocky fissures with
Chaparral growing in
them and that white Jet
Stream just adds spice.
There are even a few
precious Orange Poppies
down in the lower right
corner.
This is a slightly
different view of the fence
line. It seems to have a bit
of framing with the bare
spots along the left edge
and down on the right
corner. And of course that
searingly BLUE sky!
The rocks look so
silvery in the
bright afternoon
sunlight set among
the bright Yellow
Mustard Flowers
and the dark green
of the Chaparral.
The silvery stalks
of dried yucca also
appeal to my senses.
I just Love
Love Love
the
ruggedness
of this
Terrain..
This Handsome boy nearly scared me half to death. I had walked across the road to
shoot a close up of a chaparral with dried feathery flowers glinting in the sunlight.
When I heard him start barking I had already spotted the open gate (see in the
picture..) And the
Beware of Dog sign posted on the open gate.
I actually heard him
running! I looked up
and saw a fireball in a
cloud of dust
barrelling toward me.
Remember the OPEN
gate...
Well needless to say...
I never got that shot!
I ran back to my car...
jerked open the door and
jumped in!
My heart was
jackhammering!!! Now
you know I love Pitties
but ........I don't know
this one..and he doesn't
know me!
THE GATE WAS OPEN!
Well, see where he is? He
ran right past the gate.
He is a good boy. He had
no intention of leaving
his yard. He just wanted
to make sure I didn't
enter his yard!
